Since Calvin curls up in a ball when he sleeps or "lies down", the whole real dog version is very tricky for him. We're working on it though...he ends up looking like an Egyptian sphinx when he gets it right. That's reward enough for me!

Poor Cal and his tummy bug. And how annoying that you had to endure the meanies at obedience class. Does this fall under the what doesn't kill you make you stronger principle?

I can definitely understand where you're coming from re: the lie down command. We worked on that this week and he was getting very confused between sit and lie down (I guess because he's so low to the ground?). Anyways, it's sooo worth it in the end. Quite possibly the cutest command to teach a mini dachshund. But I think everything they do is cute.

Rose, I've definitely toyed with the idea but puppy poop is possibly one of the most offensive smells in existence. Not a shred of my being wants to encourage him to poop inside in any capacity.

Believe me, when the house is bought, it's going to have a fenced in back yard with a tube that I can shoot him out of like a wiener cannon.
