Why, hello there!

It's about time that I get to some online housework. Due to some odd turn of events, sparked by commenting on Jenn and Jamie's blogs, I seem to be experiencing a big jump in readers (also thanks to joining 20something bloggers on Ning). As such, perhaps an introduction is in order as well as a little explaining about what the hell I'm doing with a blog.

First off, I'm a 22 year old public relations graduate currently freelance-writing while I play the job market. I was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia with stints spent in The Netherlands (three years on cheese- and sheep-farming island, Texel), Galway (Ireland, four months), and Ottawa (four months). I've been a mini dachshund owner for three months, a mac-user for two years, and a vegetarian for almost ten. I've always been the family's black sheep although a very loved and supported one. Seriously - my folks and big brother are the coolest.

No Ordinary Rollercoaster started as a showcase blog for classwork (found here, here, here, and here) and was for a short period of time a feeble attempt at becoming one of the many public relations and social media blogs available. I got tired of trying to sound smart all the time and pretending that I knew everything even though I was still being a student at the time. I have since decided to leave it to the pros in order to write about whatever I please. I get to write about what other people want to say all day (which I love. Really!). It's my turn.

Anyone still coming here for PR talk, that's perfectly alright. I write about what I'm interested in and what I experience in my life - PR still fits in both of those categories. If you're looking for straight-up industry talk though, check out Chris Clarke, Ed Lee, Eric Eggertson, Dan Schwabel, or my work on OneDegree.ca.

For the rest of you, skim through the work fodder (you just might learn something, blogging is still a form of brand management, marketing and social media) and enjoy the laughs, rants, and whatever else I manage to throw at you. For die-hards, I'm available on Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Technorati and the other usual suspects. Just check out the right sidebar. Oh - also make my U.K. correspondent Union Jane feel welcome, will you?

Thanks for stopping by, subscribe to the RSS feed, leave a comment here and there, and hang on for the ride!

Just wanted to give you some puppy support!! My dog has a "sensitive" stomach and gets sick when he eats random things (which is all the time) so we had to switch our dog to I/D (Intestinal Diet) which is just a bland food. He is doing a lot better now so hopefully yours will start feeling better too!

Thanks for saying hello and giving my feedreader some new loveliness to check out!

Christie: I just got in from another $160 trip to the vet because of Calvin's innate ability to reject all food.More on this in an upcoming puppy post.
